The gingerbread bakery is finished. The inside isn't done, and I just don't think there will be time to do it. Many hours were spent working on this. It was fun watching the kids and their dad work on a project together. I think this will be a new tradition. Here are a couple pictures. I'll put a set on Flickr one of these days. The kids did all the outside decorations, everything is edibe except the little dog. Madyson insisted on putting him there because the snowcaps candy looked little doggy poos with snow on them.....I didn't say it, she did!

Quilts for the Kims

Shiny and Bright
My husband gets quite a few Christmas gifts from sales reps and customers. I usually never see them, since they're usually some type of yummy goodies, that his employees share. Last year he got a basket full of Steelers things and he brought those home (I am not a Steelers fan). He usually brings home a ham to. This year though we got a fabulous gift. New cookware! Dh uses this stuff in his showroom when they do cooking demonstrations and loves it.....I'll probably burn everything. It's so pretty right now, all shiny and no scratches...that's my excuse for not putting it away yet. When I got the camera out, dh was afraid I was going to sell it on ebay, LOL.
What's Cookin!
I got my swap package for the What's Cookin' Swap! My partner was Heather. She sent a beautiful apron, that is perfectly made! It's reversible also....love that! I also got some ornaments, and a hot pad that smells wonderful, recipes and candy canes. The cutest thing is the apron ornament. I think I'll put those on my to do list, for next year. Another thing I loved is that my package came from West Virginia....Heather is the only other "crafty" blogger in W.Va. I've come across. My husband and I lived in the city she lives in now when we were first married. Thanks for the great package Heather!

I've been following this story for days now since I read about it on so many blogs. I can't even imagine the grief this family is feeling, but they must be so, so proud of James. He was a husband, father and hero.

The Bakery
Tonight we were watching Food Networks gingerbread house contest. The kids were talking about making one, and when can they do it, and can their friends come, etc.... 'cause they know mom loves a sugary mess in the kitchen. Anyway, dh disappeared...I figured all the chatter was making it difficult for him to enjoy the hockey game. A few minutes later he yells down to me "How do you spell fondant?" I told him, then after a few minutes of wondering what he was up to, I went and found him. So there he is sketching, and typing things into the computer. Now he has list of recipes for gingerbread, fondant, icing cement, etc. and this sketch. I'm anxious to see how this turns out. If it fails I'll frame the sketch and hang it in the kitchen....every Christmas, LOL!
